READ OUT LOUD AS A GROUP: Psalm 95

Practice 2 minutes of silent prayer. Assume a comfortable position and repeat the phrase “Come Holy Spirit” to yourself as you breathe. If your mind wanders, that's okay—simply notice it, repeat the phrase, and return your focus. After the silence, invite someone from the group to close in prayer.

READ OUT LOUD AS A GROUP: Hebrews 3:1-13

(optional) ICEBREAKER - Who is the GOAT? You have 30 minutes to decide whether MJ or LeBron is the greatest of all time. Choose one representative from each side, set a 5 minute timer for prep, and they will have 3 minutes to present their arguments to the group.

Q1 - Is your identity shaped by something other than Jesus? Is it tied to what you do or how others perceive you? What practices could help you remember that identity precedes activity?

Q2 - What’s the last thing God told you? How do you know it was God? How did you respond, and what did it produce in your life?

Q3 - Think back to last week’s message or discussion. What has stayed with you or continued to resonate? What moments from that time helped you slow down and hear God?

Q4 - God is always the most interested in the moment that we are presently in. Yet, we often dwell on the past or long for a different future. Which are you more prone to—dwelling on the past or fixating on the future?

  • What do you think drives this tendency in your life?
  • What would it look like to intentionally live in the present moment with God this week?

Q5 - The enemy tries to convince us to delay obedience, saying we can put off until tomorrow what God calls us to do today. How have you fallen for this lie in the past? Can you share specific moments where delayed obedience impacted you? What might God be asking of you today that you’ve been putting off?

Q6 - Proximity to a spiritual movement doesn’t guarantee personal transformation. Where in your life are you “close to the movement” but still resisting true change? What might it look like to surrender in those areas?

Q7 - In Hebrew, “Shema” means to listen with the intent to obey. How often do you hear God's Word but struggle to respond?

RESOURCE: The Bible Project: Shema Video

CHALLENGE:

Plan at least one hour this week to practice solitude and listening with the intent to obey. Bring only your Bible and journal, and commit to doing what God says during this time. Reflect on Hebrews 3:7-8:
“Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”

  • ●  Ask God to reveal any areas where you might be resisting His call.
  • ●  Journal your time and any action steps God gives you.
